Since sphynx cats are hairless they require baths. Most sphynx requie a bath every 7 to 30 days depending on skin condition and age. Baths prevent them from becoming overly oily and breaking out in achne like rashes.

And though it sounds scary to bathe a cat (even a hairless one) there are a few simple steps you can take to make bathing your sphynx cat, a little easier.  Read more


Sphynx cats lack of hair include their ears, because of this they often get a brown waxy build up inside their ears that should be cleaned on a weekly basis to prevent it causing medical problems (and is just looks gross). It is easily cleaned with a Q tip that has been dipped in warm water or with the ear cleaner you can purchase at your local pet store or online.  Read more

Their lack of fur also means that sphynx cats get waxy, dirty nails. Their claws become covered in a brown wax similar to that inside the ear.   HCM is a disease that causes thickening of the heart muscle resulting in poor relaxing and filling ability. As the heart’s pumping chamber (ventricle) becomes progressively thicker, less blood can enter the chamber; thus, less blood is ejected out to the body. The cause of HCM is unknown, although certain breeds of cats appear to be predisposed. Middle-aged male cats may be more commonly affected. Read more
